jsPgnViewer 0.6.4 released

I noticed that there have been couple of hundred downloads of the TRUNK version of jsPgnViewer. I decided to make it into a release. Compared to the previous version:

  • Feature:There is a link to download the PGN as a file.
  • Handling of broken (unmatched parentheses in comments) PGN files
  • skipToMove feature
  • Updated to obfuscator – Fixes problems with Opera

Head off to the downloads section and grab 0.6.4.

Hi there! I recently installed Wordpress for my chess club and was sooo very happy to find your plugin. It works just fine for us, our members can upload their PGN files themselves, making the website very dynamic. As we’re hosting a tournament these days I spread the word, and found several enthusiasts.

    Hi there,

thanks for the plugin. Unfortunately, the images are not displayed. I only get question marks instead of pieces.

Any ideas? I tried to place the folders in all kinds of different places. To no avail. Using Wordpress 2.7.

Here is a screenshot from Safari on OSX:

A similar problem exists with Firefox.

Do the demos work for you at http://pgnview.com/demos ?

Usually the issue in such a case is that you have to either specify the ‘imagePrefix’ option or move the images to the default location. See the samples at the demos page.

If you can’t find the mistake just give me the URL of your own sample and i’ll take a look at the configuration string from the source.

    Thanks Toomas,

It now works just fine. I mixed up the position of the folders. Re-read the readme this morning and placed the folders exactly as described. It is a little counter-intuitive to put the second pgnviewer folder (with the images) to the same level as the wp-plugin folder.

Thanks again for the great work! If you are still interested in improving the plugin, I would love to be able to include variations.

I can send you a pgn with variations …

Good that it worked out. I think today the installation could be made easier. I’ve added it as an issue.

I do hope I get the time to finish the variation support at one point.
